PROJECT LOCATION: Cromer, Norfolk

PROJECT BRIEF:
A large 6-bedroom detached home had been purchased by a developer who was renovating it with plans to let it out as a holiday home. Located on the outskirts of this popular seaside town, the property was situated in a quiet area, with plenty of outdoor space and surrounded by trees.
We were engaged part-way through the development to advise on a colour scheme for the house. At this stage, our advice was sought on specific details, including the colour and style of kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity units and tiles. The developer was aiming for a contemporary country look that would appeal to modern family groups.
As the project developed, we were asked to build a comprehensive interior design scheme and source all furniture, lighting, artwork, accessories, bedding and kitchenware. We also took on responsibility for arranging delivery to site and full installation.
The project had to be completed in time for professional photography. The images would be used to attract bookings throughout the Summer season.

INTERIOR DESIGN SOLUTION:
Inspired by the natural surroundings and quiet location, we created a soft, calm colour palette for the walls. These were paired with darker tones on the kitchen island, sofas, beds and cushions to add depth. In addition, we included black accents to add a contemporary touch to the interior. This included painted chairs around the natural wood dining table, the TV unit, brassware in the bathrooms and picture frames. The effect is a warm, fresh and welcoming aesthetic.
When designing the interior of a holiday home, it is important to consider the practicalities. As a result, our decisions on furniture and fittings were based on durability, low maintenance and broad appeal.
In the kitchen, we recommended neutral Shaker-style kitchen units and work surfaces to fit the design brief. To maximise the feeling of space, there are no wall units, so the surfaces are all counter height. In addition to the dark green island, we installed patterned tiles around the range cooker to add character and interest to this open-plan room.
We subtly varied the colour scheme in the five double bedrooms and twin room. To achieve this, we sourced artwork, soft furnishings and window blinds to give each its own identity. Providing everything guests would require for a relaxing break was at the forefront of our minds. In addition, we had to keep in mind the owners and cleaning staff. For example, we ordered 3 sets of all bedding to account for the logistics of laundry on changeover days.

PROJECT OUTCOME:
We delivered a fabulous interior that meets the needs of guests and the demands of a short-term holiday rental property. Every detail was considered down to the kitchen utensils and storage space for cleaning supplies. The project was completed within budget and in time for the photographer.
